The contaminated meat was only found in the small dog park area, deputies said.

A woman’s dog ate one of the meatballs and was taken to a local veterinarian. Fortunately, X-rays revealed that the dog did not ingest any of the hooks.

Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Bicentennial Park on Tuesday after a park-goer found five meatballs scattered around the grass by the fence line.

Cute little park. We only visited the playground and beach so thats what I will comment on. Easy access to beach, small walk across road. The playground is covered and play equipment is more for 6 years and under. But our 7 year old liked it any way.

“The meat was still cold and sweating like it had been frozen and was thawing in the sun for awhile,” the Sheriff’s Office stated on their Facebook page. “Several were very mushy. The meat appeared have the consistency and smell of liverwurst.”

Deputies said nobody saw a suspect place the meatballs out, and a total of five were confiscated. From the outside, the meatballs looked like they had small pieces of metal breaking through the top, and when deputies cut them open they contained several small fishhooks each, the report stated.

Nice park. Includes walking paths, two dog parks and trails. Runs from ocean to river.

This is my most favourite and preferred dog park to take my doggo to. He always has a great time running around and playing with other friendly dogs!

This dog park is very spacious (both the little and big dog park), has water readily available, and well maintained

The new covering on the play area is nice but they let the butterfly garden go to waste. Now is all over grown and the dog park area is infested with fleas and ticks so be aware
